Barracuda Club Dakar

BARRACUDA CLUB Dakar is Senegal’s newest diving club. It is a Padi Dive Center and an Official Partner of AQUALUNG. This diving club was created by FRANCK CHABERT, Master Scuba Diver Trainer and Specialty Instructor Night, Deep, Nitrox, Wreck, Underwater Photography, Wrecks, Buoyancy, Underwater Scooter, Project AWARE, etc …Bilingual French and English, he will take you to the best sites around Dakar where he has been diving for more than 5 years. Passionate about Photography and Underwater Video, he will always be an excellent adviser for the production of your underwater images.

Our philosophy

All our dives are practiced under optimal conditions of safety. Divers in training and beginners are always in small groups and supervised by diving professionals. We favor the development of the autonomy of our divers by leaving them, according to the evolution of their competences and when the conditions allow it, to plunge of their own fins. We love the sea, we want to protect it, every small gesture is important. Come participate in our cleaning program of N’gor Bay.

Infrastructures and equipment

Our dive shop is located on the main square of the N’Gor pier opposite the Madrague hotel. You will be welcomed in a warm and functional space. A large cloakroom with 2 cabins and storage spaces will allow you to prepare comfortably and attend diving briefings. Audio-visual material has been provided for the lessons or information. When you return from diving, you will have at your disposal rinsing bins and 2 “hot” showers adjoining the cloakroom. Finally, you will be able to relax in our green and shaded space, under our big palaver mango tree. The Barracuda Club Dakar is equipped with new AQUALUNG equipment. We have a capacity of 50 steel bottles 6L, 10L, 12L, 15L. You will find wetsuit of all sizes children, XS to 2XL and all seasons 3mm, 4,5mm, 6mm. A wide range of sizes 3XS to XL. The new CALYPSO regulators complete your equipment. Finally, headlights, computers, cameras are also available for rent. Our compressor BAUER is totally thought for the conditions of heat and comfort. Dimensioned to quickly fill the bottles safely and answer your request. You will also have the opportunity to dive in NITROX mixture on request. Our 10 meter boat, designed by Franck for the comfort and safety of divers, is equipped with 2 new engines of 100 hp Yamaha as well as a modern equipment for tracking and safety GPS / Sonar / Buoy de rescue / First Aid Kit / Oxygen Therapy Kit.

Our dive sites

Our dive sites are located around the peninsula of Dakar. The geological history of this area has left a rocky coastline witnessing the presence of ancient rivers, valleys but also the ancient volcanic activity. Whether near rock piles, successive cliffs, spectacular basaltic columns or sand areas, marine species find their habitats essential for feeding, resting and breeding. There is a great diversity of fauna and flora that has the particularity of being represented by tropical and Mediterranean species varying with the seasons. In summer, from June to October, the warm equatorial countercurrent dominates and drives the warm Guinean waters from the south to the peninsula of Dakar. Then come hot water species such as trevallies, carp and barracudas. Then, when the trade winds begin, around November, the cold water species leave the northern Mauritanian coast to make their appearance. Among these are the pageot, the bluefish, the croakers and the badess groupers. We usually find more than 400 species of fish ranging from nurse sharks through the huge African stingrays, the curious moray eels, but also more generally the soldiers-fish, damsels, butterfly fish, the magnificent angel fish of Senegal or the very colorful parrot fish from Senegal. Invertebrate fauna is not left behind. You may be able to see lobsters, cicadas, nudibranchs, crabs, octopus, cuttlefish.
