A must for scuba diving in Safaga, Egypt
If you have the chance to dive in Safaga, you will certainly have the chance to discover this beautiful dive site. It is possible to discover the site in two distinct ways by diving on the western or the eastern side of the reef. In either case, you will discover great drop offs and large plateaus covered with hard corals and you will come across a particularly rich marine life between barracudas, schools of trevallies, turtles, rays eagles and stingrays, sharks and you might even be able to dive with dolphins and other pelagics.
The two approaches are equal and the site deserves to be visited in both its aspects. Be aware however that this Safaga dive site accessible to all levels of diving is worth it because it is just over an hour from Safaga en Bateau. Diving usually pairs with other sites nearby. Middle Reef is a must, it is often considered to be one of the best diving sites of Safaga in Egypt.
Middle Reef on the South East side
This is a beautiful drop dominated by a large coral garden sprayed with sunlight. Going down to the south, the landscape evolves and we discover a landscape more lunar and tortured with asperities of all kinds such as small labyrinths, large cavities and huge coral potatoes. Beautiful little circuit and beautiful diving spot of Safaga in Egypt.
Middle Reef on the North West side
The Northern side is equally spectacular and is structured in the same way as the southern slope with a large drop covered with corals. To the west, we discover a gently sloping plateau covered with a large sandy area with reefs full of life and several corals visited by many colorful fish. There are both green turtles and the famous hawksbill turtles.
Middle Reef is a great diving experience in Egypt and definitely worth a detour through Safaga.
