Located at the junction of two continental plates between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores, the Komodo National Park is composed of many small volcanic Islands and three main islands that you can visit Rinca, Komodo and Padar.

This area has one of the richest ecosystem in the world because of its incredible location between Australia and Sunda Islands. First of all, Komodo is worldwide famous for its prehistorical giant lizard, the Komodo Dragons. But no worries this region has many other assets to unveil such as the incredible panorama of Pandar Island or its unique and wonderful Pink Beaches.

Underwater, even super experienced and hardcore divers will find everything they has always dreamed about : big pelagic fishes such as giant manta rays and a lot of different kind of sharks, adrenaline with drift dives, macro with the famous pigmy sea horse and fantastic coral reefs. Flores and Komodo are not remoted area even if there is not so many tourist. It will be really simple for you to organize your diving trip trip. It is easy to get to the best Komodo’s dive sites as all the boat are leaving from the Labuan Bajo pier.

There are two options: sail on a liveaboard for several days or take a Speedboat for daily diving trip. The first option is probably the most exotic since all diving cruises are aboard magnificent wooden ships.

Komodo is a place like no other and once you will discover it be sure that you will have only one idea in mind, come back as soon as possible.

When to go?

The best months to go to Komodo Park are during the dry period from March to November. However, during the rainy season do not expect too much rain, it’s generally occurs at night. For your information in 2007 it doesn’t rain at all for a year.

Diving condition

Visibility in Komodo is generally good, ranging from 15 to 30 meters depending on dive sites and tides.

Currents :
The National Park is located between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean which currents can be very strong.

Levels :
To fully enjoy your dives in Komodo, it is better to be an experienced diver to be able to appreciate all dive spot. On some diving spots, the strong current requires the use of a hook. But no worries even beginners can enjoy the beauty of the seabed in several protected areas.

The temperature
of the water varies from 28 ° to 30 ° c.

What to see in Komodo?

Komodo is located in the Coral Triangle, one of the world’s largest biodiversity hotspots. This area shelters 30% of all coral reefs in the world and more than 35% of reef fish species. This place is definitely one of the best place in the world to enjoy scuba diving. Underwater will have the chance to see on the reefs an exceptional flora composed of hundreds of species of hard and soft corals, sponges, anemones, gorgonians, sea fans and cnidarians. If you think you’ve seen everything, expect to be surprised. Wildlife is not left behind, the reefs are literally covered with hundreds of fishes such as gray sharks, white-tipped sharks, jack fish, snappers, blue trevallies, dogtooth tunas, barracudas, moray eels, manta rays etc.

We definitly recommend you some dive sites like “Manta Alley” and “Manta Point”. Those dive spot are cleaning stations where large pelagic are coming in order to get rid of their parasites and to clean their wounds. There it’s possible to observe dozens of manta rays all year round in a ceaseless ballet.

Some diving spots offer the opportunity to observe tiny species such as pygmy seahorses, frog fish, colorful nudibranchs or purple hair crabs.
