You should definitly avoid the western part until Tucacas because the visibility is just amazingly bad as the waters are muddy. In the Morrocoy National Park, on the contrary, the shallow waters are very clear and full of different fish. The town of Tucacas offers numerous accommodations and you will easily be able to find great diving clubs in Tucacas.

The town of Puerto Cabello is the starting point for the famous dive sites of Marina Punta Brava, 50 km further south. For the diving wreck lovers, you will be able to discover 6 amazing historical ships of notable size such as the Sesotris and the Jacob.

Further on, we reach the bay of Boca, an haven on earth, far from the touristic crowd where small dive centers such as the diving shop Refugio de Buzos will be happy to welcome you.

Further east, many day trips are available from Caracas.

The Roques Islands

Located 160 km from the Venezuelan coast, Los Roques National Marine Park has more than 360 scattered islands lost in an immense lagoon of 250,000 hectares. The main island of Gran Roque allows you to discover some of the most beautiful diving sites of the Caribbean. Accessible at all levels, those diving spots are rarely visited and offer exceptional visibility. It allows you to discover all the richness of the local fauna and flora. There are abrupt drop-off 70 meters deep, pinnacles and even caves. The most known dive sites are Boca de Sebastopol , famous for its sharks and La Guasa + Boca de Cote.

Visibility in Venezuela varies greatly depending on the region you are in. Be aware, however, that in the Roques Islands and in the Morrocoy Park, the visibility is excellent usually exceeds 30 meters.

The sea currents, which are almost non-existent, do not interfere in any way with the practice of scuba diving.

Requirement: whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver, you will find in Venezuela a perfect setting to put your head under water.

The temperature of the water ensures a pleasant dive all year around since it varies from 26 ° to 31 ° C.

What can you see in scuba diving?

Venezuela is an ideal destination for a diving trip. Besides its beautiful marine landscapes, its drop off, its pinnacles and its caves, the waters of Venezuela has almost 80% of the coral species of the Caribbean Sea. The fauna is also exceptional since it is possible to dive with sharks including the nurse shark and the hammerhead shark but also magnificent specimens of stingrays and turtles. You will also spot some amazing nudibranchs that will delight underwater photographers. The fauna is abundant: groupers, seahorses, trevallies, barracudas, fish-surgeon, angel fish but also several types of crustaceans hidden in the caves. One of the must do diving trip.
