The Gili Islands have become in recent years a must venue for people traveling to Bali and Lombok and a prime destination for scuba diving in Indonesia. These three islands, each with its own special character, fringed by white-sand beaches and coral reefs are a perfect destination for tourists looking for a tropical island getaway and for beginners and experienced divers alike.
Underwater, you will be delighted by drop-off diving, wreck diving or drift diving, and by so much more.

where to dive in Gili Islands?

Gili Meno

For lovers of nature and tranquility, Gili Meno is the smallest but also the quietest island.

Gili Air

Gili Air is in full tourist development and is gaining popularity from year to year. There are original bars and restaurants.

Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan is the largest island of Gili SIlands. It has the reputation of being the island of the festival. There are many activities, lodging options and diving centers.

When to go diving in Gili?

If you want to dive in Bali or in the Gili Islands, you have to know than both have a wet season November-March and a dry season April-October. Visibility is best during the dry season because it is not affected by rain which stirs up sediment in the water, blurring divers’ visibility. The best time to dive in the Gili Islands is from April to October.

Scuba diving conditions

The water visibility is excellent reaching over 25 meters. However, visibility may be reduced during wet season from November to March.

The currents are generally weak around the Gili Islands. However, currents tend to vary all the time in some areas and can be unpredictable and very strong. Make sure to seek advice from local dive centres.

Difficulty: The Gili Islands are an ideal destination for beginner divers offering favorable conditions.

You will easily find many centers on this archipelago of three islands.

The water temperature in the Gili Islands varies between 25° to 30°C depending on the season.

What to see while diving and snorkeling?

The fringing coral reefs surrounding the Gili Islands support a phenomenal array of diverse marine life. Expect to spot turtles, reef sharks black and white tip, octopus, lionfish and countless varieties of tropical species. Around Gili Trawangan, you will admire bump-head parrot fish who like to hang out there. Divers may spot rays, sea snakes and perhaps even whale sharks and manta rays.
