Just before we left for the Mariana Islands, we add the chance to receive the latest model of diving light from Green Force a world famous dive torch manufacturer segment.

Here our review of this amazing product, the canister Hybrid 3 KIT DB. For those who do not know the difference between a traditional scuba diving light and a canister, you must know that canisters are wire connected to a battery installed generally on the dive block

What are the advantages of canister dive torch? What are the disadvantages of canister dive light?

  • + longer battery life underwater
  • + Lighter product in your hand
  • + Impossible to lose while scuba diving

  • – Heavier on your bag when you travel
  • – Need to be installed on your dive tank before the dive

Green Force Hybrid 3 KIT DB review

What a pleasure to receive this dive torch. It has been a moment that we want to try this amazing product. First of all you must know that if you buy a Green Force dive light, you will receive it in a huge box containing several small boxes carefully packed. Everything was separated and stored in different bags. What does this Pack contain?

  • • Heptastar 3000 DB light head providing 3000 lumens
  • • 3 batteries and a 4-slot charger
  • • Hybrid umbilical, very resistant and strong
  • • A Tank connection
  • • A carry bag for the set up

Once unpacked, we decided to charge directly our three batteries. Then we just had to unscrew the canister completely to plug them in. We finally connected the head of the lamp to the canister and our set up was finally ready for use. I organized all the component in the padded pouch with a zipper opening. Now we just needed to wait our next dive trip to test it!

Is this Green Force dive light a good product?

Good news, we are planning to go to Mariannas Islands and dive the famous Grotto dive site, a wonderful cave, perfect to use the Green Force dive light at is full potential. Before the dive we just attached the canister to our dive tank and we are ready to go. As we said, the setup is more than easy and the dive torch seems more than safe and reliable. Once underwater, the head of the lamp is really light, much more than the usual dive torch we are used to bring with us.

As there is no switch, to turn on the light, I just need to rotate the head further into the umbilical outlet. This is the moment and I am pleasantly surprised, the light produced by the powerful central LED is cool white, and pretty well focused. The beam is powerful without being aggressive, it varies instantly depending on the angle of aim.

Green Force Hybrid 3 KIT DB

The Green Force Hybrid 3 KIT DB as its name suggests uses a new technology called: DB. This technology automatically adjusts the power of the light beam to the amount of light needed. Nearby objects do not need to be illuminated at full power, but distant objects require a beam at full power. According to the manufacturer, this system makes it possible to reach an autonomy 6 times longer with the same battery. The 3000 lumens make it possible to perfectly illuminate every corner of the cave and to easily flush out all the creatures hidden in crevices. After two one-hour dives, the lamp still shows no signs of weakening. Without being able to test it to the end, this canister at Green Force seems a very good pick for people wanting to buy this kind of equipment.

The Green Force Hybrid 3 KIT DB as its name suggests uses a new technology called: Dual Beam. This makes the dive light very versatile as is can switch automatically or manually from a spot light to a flood light. The spot mode is best used to shine at objects at a distance or in murky waters, while the flood light serves as a video light. When used in auto mode, a gravity sensor in the light head will detect whether the light head is pointed in the distance or to the bottom. When pointed in the distance it will activate the spot mode. When pointed to the bottom the spot light will dim automatically so you are not blinded and the flood light will get stronger to illuminate the whole scene you are looking at.

Green Force also uses another innovative system in their Hybrid lights; the Heptastar 2000 DPM Dynamic Power Management .This technology automatically adjusts the power of the light beam to the amount of light needed. Nearby objects do not need to be illuminated at full power, but distant objects require a beam at full power. According to the manufacturer, this system makes it possible to reach an autonomy 6 times longer with the same battery. Definitely we will recommend this product to you guys!
