Let’s have a look at those who helped diving becoming what it is today. Who are the stars of this discipline ?

Jacques-Yves Cousteau

1910-1997 

Nicknamed ‘Captain’, Cousteau is known worldwide for greatly improving the principle of scuba regulator with Emile Gagnan, which was the foundational element of modern scuba diving. He also sailed the world aboard the Calypso and documented his extraordinary adventures. Cousteau’s love of sea spread to million of people.
 

Lloyd Bridges

1913 – 1998 

Who is able to forget this legendary american actor of the 60s. He was the star of the TV show ‘Sea Hunt’ which aired for 155 episodes and was followed by 40 million people. We could watch TV show character Mike Nelson, former US army diver, facing danger and hectic adventures.
 

Zale Parry

A pioneer in scuba diving industry, this scientist and actress became famous for building and selling the first hyperbaric chamber. She also tested scientific equipment for years in addition to playing in numerous TV shows and film productions.
 

James Cameron

1954 – Still alive

Here’s one director that considers ocean as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Piranha 2: The Spawning 1981, The Abyss 1989, Titanic 1997, Point Break 1991 Volcanoes of the Abyss 2003 Sanctum 2011. James Cameron participated in 2012 at the Challenger Deep where he established a new record Max alone depth aboard a submarine P
 

Ahmed Gamal Gabr

1972 – Still alive

With a 332.35 meter deep dive, Ahmed Gamal Gabr is the first diver that ever reached this depth with cylinders and without assistance. The figures speak for themselves: 15 hours ascent for an only 12 minutes descent . This truly epic human achievement, pushing the boundaries of medicine & technology, took place in Dahab Red Sea, Egypt.
 

Of course, there are many others, for example; Jean-Michel Cousteau brilliantly follows the same footsteps as his father, Albert Tillman NAOO founder of the association, Mel Fisher’s treasure hunter, Sylvia Earle nicknamed the “Her deepness”  or Eugene Clark nicknamed “Shark Lady” …
