Other fantastic treasures to discover

Madagascar is a rather unknown destination from the general public and deserves a more exposure.

Fauna and flora

The bio-geographical isolation of Madagascar, the variety of climates and reliefs have favored the development of a fauna and flora unique in the world, partly endemic. Moreover, over the past ten years more than 600 new animal and plant species have been discovered in the country.

Variety of landscapes

This eighth continent brings together a true mosaic of landscapes. The island is made of contrasts between the central highlands, consisting of granitic plateaus, hills, massifs, plains, basins, rivers and rivers while on the outskirts there are humid forests to the east and in the south of the more arid zones where the savanna predominates with the almost desert vegetation. A surprising topography that you will not see anywhere else.

Arts

Malagasy art flourished in the 20th century, with these pieces exported throughout Europe. However in recent years, a certain standardization is gaining craftsmanship that is becoming a consumer product for travelers. However it would be a shame to miss the sculpture of wood and semi-precious stones and the making of Lamba, a traditional piece of cloth.

Music

Malagasy music is known for its creativity and enjoys, thanks to the internet of a wider audience internationally. Do not miss the traditional music concerts organized in the bars at night.

Gastronomy

One of the criteria oh so important for us French, food. You should know that Malagasy cuisine is composed of Asian, Indian, Arab and African influences with basic ingredients, rice, bananas, coconut, seafood, fish, zebu and tomato. Do not miss the traditional dishes: romazava, ravitoto, pickles, or sambosa.

A destination a little outside the media.

In recent years, the country that has so much to offer has rarely been under the fire of the media. The few times that we have heard of Madagascar have been heard on topics related to its chronic political instability or to narrate various marginal facts. Why not talk about natural treasures or actions on the fight against corruption, the development of solar energy in villages or the lack of mass tourism. Yet another reason to go discover this atypical country.
