Aquadomia in Marseille: what you can check before choosing your training

On its website, Aquadomia gives a precise address: Dune Marseille underwater base, 7 port de la Pointe Rouge, in the 8th arrondissement. That’s the first landmark. The sheets circulating elsewhere do not all say the same thing.

This page only includes what is public and verifiable as of early October 2026: the club’s website, official tourist sheets, and the rules of the Calanques National Park. No opinions, no visits.

Prices and dates change. Keep the club’s site as the final reference before paying anything.

What do we know about Aquadomia in Marseille?

Aquadomia presents itself as a training center for recreational and professional diving, located at the Dune Marseille base at the port of Pointe Rouge. The dives take place in the Calanques National Park, in small groups or individual courses, on dates chosen by the student rather than on a fixed calendar.

The “Who we are” page lists three partners. Bruno Scheerlinck appears there with a BEES 2 in underwater diving, a class 2B diver qualification, and an SSI Trainer status. Olivier Lesteven and Sébastien Vidonne hold a DEJEPS and diver qualifications. The center claims to be Qualiopi certified, the quality certification for training organizations, and publishes a quality plan dated September 2026. None of this describes a sea outing, but these are reference points that can be verified, which is better than a slogan.

The exact link between Aquadomia and Dune, which hosts it, is not publicly detailed.

However, the “Aquadomia Anodia” sheet from the Marseille tourist office tells a different story. It places the center at place Mignard, in the 9th arrondissement, and mentions training in Paris and Marseille. Its last update was on January 9, 2023. Trust the Pointe Rouge address and have it confirmed when booking, just like the boat departure point. To locate the base itself, we reviewed the Dune Marseille at Pointe Rouge sheet using the same method.

What training does Aquadomia offer, and at what price?

The online catalog mixes four pathways. It includes SSI certifications (Open Water Diver, Advanced, Divemaster, instructor), French levels from the ANMP curriculum (Level 2, Level 4, dive director N5), FFESSM instructor training (Initiator, MF1), and Tek diving with TDI, plus professional diver training.

Training Indicated pathway Duration Dives Displayed price
Exploration day, Calanques National Park Not specified 1 day 2 €175
Open Water Diver SSI 3 days 6 €635
Level 2 ANMP 4 days 8 €805 (card €20 extra)
Level 3 Not specified 5 days 10 €955
Complete training and Level 4 exam ANMP 9 days Not specified €1,650
Initiator E1 or E2 and exam FFESSM 7 days Not specified €995
Trimix TDI 4 days Not specified €1,300

These prices are those on the site in early October 2026.

The previous version of this article announced a range of €175 to €870 for all recreational training. However, that only applies to part of the leisure sector. Professional courses go much higher, up to €9,150 for the SSI instructor pre-training over eleven weeks. It also mentioned PADI. The current catalog no longer displays any PADI training, so we remove that mention, even though the 2023 tourist sheet still mentioned it.

Also read what remains outside the price. For Level 2, the club’s page excludes the certification card (€20 on site), accommodation, meals, and equipment rental, and includes liability insurance during training. On the Tek side, if trimix attracts you, our article on the strengths and limits of trimix diving sets the framework before discussing budget.

What level is required to dive with Aquadomia?

For the exploration day in the Calanques National Park, the club requires at least a Level 1 or an Open Water Diver certification. To enter Level 2 training, you need one of these two certifications, be at least 15 years old, have parental authorization if you are a minor, and a medical certificate of no contraindication.

However, the age varies depending on the federation. The Level 2 curriculum of the FFESSM, published in February 2019, sets the minimum age at 16 years at the date of certification issuance. It describes two competencies. In PA20, you dive autonomously up to 20 m with one or two adult teammates. In PE40, you descend up to 40 m with a dive guide. Aquadomia’s page, which refers to the ANMP curriculum, announces the same limits of 20 and 40 m.

The dive director sets the depth for the day during the briefing.

To start, the club’s FAQ sets a minimum age of 10 years. It specifies that a general practitioner can sign the certificate for the first level and recommends a federal or specialized doctor for the following levels. If you are starting from scratch, our guide to the FFESSM Level 1 training details what this first certification covers.

Your logbook counts as much as your card. A diver certified three years ago, without any dives since, benefits from announcing it at the time of booking, as the club actually offers a review day with two dives. On the technical side, buoyancy remains the first skill to regain, and we have detailed how to adjust your weight to balance your buoyancy.

What rules apply in the Calanques National Park?

The Calanques National Park prohibits diving in two archaeological protection zones: the Cousteau triangle, off the islands of Riou and Plane, and the Pointe de la Voile, at Cap Morgiou. The collection of species and archaeological remains is strictly forbidden there, as is deliberate contact with wildlife and feeding.

The park has installed ecological mooring buoys. Access to them is free, open, and primarily intended for diving activities. Anchoring is still discouraged on seagrass beds and coralligenous habitats, and the park directs boaters to the Donia app to locate these seabeds. When facing cetaceans, keep your distance. These rules apply to everyone.

Contact with wildlife is the behavior most corrected last.

Thus, a dive group that struggles to stabilize often ends up with their hand resting on the rock, without even thinking about it, while the park’s regulations prohibit deliberate contact with species. Reread why you should never touch marine life before your first outing in the park.

What should you ask Aquadomia before booking?

Five questions are enough to frame your booking: on which boat and from which dock you depart, how many divers are in the group, which sites are targeted according to your level, what backup plan exists in case of mistral, and what exactly is included in the displayed price.

The season also deserves a mention. The club’s FAQ states that training can take place all year round, including winter. It gives water temperatures around 12 °C in winter and up to 25 °C in summer, adding that the mistral can lower it to 16 °C in the middle of summer. These are indicative figures from the club, without date or measurement point. So plan your wetsuit according to the month of your training.

Ask for the emergency procedure.

But don’t stop at the answer “we have oxygen on board,” because the alert is as important as the equipment, and the park reminds that at sea, it goes through CROSS Mediterranean on channel 16 on VHF or at 04 94 61 16 16. The club must be able to tell you who initiates the alert and where the boat returns.

For comparison, the sheet of Archipel Plongée in Argelès-sur-Mer was reviewed according to the same criteria, based only on public sources. And if an answer remains vague, the cost is concrete. A day of mistral can delay a four-day training, and the cancellation insurance offered by the club costs between €18.75 and €37.50, to be weighed against a course costing over €800. Would you book it like that?
